Psalm 90 is the oldest. Moses writes it while conducting the longest funeral service in history. For forty years, an entire generation fell in the wilderness. Spurgeon said those wilderness graves lay on the desert floor like “snowflakes upon the sand”. Advent begins in that same place. We face our limits and open our hands toward the mercy of God.
