1 – The Church Reminds Us Who Blesses (Deut 8:10–14)
- The Hebrew verb “bless” literally means to kneel in gratitude.
- Success should bring us to our knees instead of puffing up our chests.
2 – The Church Guards Against Forgetting (Deut 8:17–18)
- The word remember doesn’t mean “to recall information” but “to act on it.”
- God gives the Church “shepherds and teachers” to equip, not entertain...because we remember God as part of a truth-telling community when our hearts are tempted to forget.
3 – The Church Reframes Reward (Eph 4:12–13)
- Paul’s word for “build up” carries the image of constructing a house.
- Every believer contributes to the structure of the Church (gifts, resources, victories), which are materials for somebody else’s growth.
4 – The Church Anchors Success in Worship (Deut 8:10; 1 Tim 6:17–19)
- Every feast in Scripture was communal.
- Even tithes were meant to be eaten together before the Lord (Deut 12:7).
