  • Translation
  • Context (within the book/letter)
  • Historical/Theological Setting
• Locate the text in redemptive history. (TEACH/EXPLAIN)
• Move toward Christ appropriately. (APPLY/EXHORT)

Common Preaching Errors

• Name that nonsense:
  • Moralism
  • Random Christ references
  • Ignoring covenantal context
