Walking in the Word: Psalm 119:1-16
I. The Word Shows Us the Blessed Path (vv. 1-8)
2. The Word Guards Us in the Battle (vv. 9-16, 105-112)
3. The Word Delights and Sustains Us (vv. 33-40, 97-104, 129-136)
I. The Word Shows Us the Blessed Path (vv. 1-8)
- The verbs in verses 1-8 (walk, keep, seek, do, learn, praise) all describe movement.
- Faith isn't passive admiration of God’s Word but active alignment with it.
2. The Word Guards Us in the Battle (vv. 9-16, 105-112)
- The Word is both armor and map—it tells you where to stand and how to march.
- Verse 11 expands the strategy: The Hebrew word implies treasuring something precious, like a hidden resource.
3. The Word Delights and Sustains Us (vv. 33-40, 97-104, 129-136)
- Meditate means to mutter, to rehearse aloud.
- v103 - honey was the sweetest thing known. God’s Word is sweet joy in written form.
- v92 - The Word not only sweetens life but sustains it in suffering.
