I. Israel’s Theocratic Pattern (Exod 19:5-6)
- “A kingdom of priests and a holy nation.”
- Israel’s purpose: to display God’s rule.
II. Promise of a Coming King (2 Sam 7; Isa 9)
- David’s throne: everlasting.
- Prophets foretell a righteous Branch (Jer 23:5).
- Christ fulfills this hope—He rules by serving.
III. The Missionary Dimension (Isa 49:6; Matt 28:18–20)
- God’s intent is always global: “a light for the nations.”
- Jesus, the Servant-King, sends His people to the world.
- The church = new Israel, a kingdom of priests (1 Pet 2:9-10).
