1. Introduction
- Berkhof: God’s incommunicable attributes are those that belong to Him alone and are not shared with His creation.
- Isaiah 46:9-10
2. The Incommunicable Attributes of God
A. Independence (Self-Existence / Aseity)
- Definition: God is self-existent and depends on nothing outside of Himself.
- Exodus 3:14 – “I AM WHO I AM.”
- Acts 17:25 – God is not served by human hands as if He needed anything.
- We depend on God; He depends on no one.
B. Immutability (Unchangeableness)
- Definition: God does not change in His being, character, or promises.
- Malachi 3:6 – “For I the Lord do not change.”
- Hebrews 13:8 – Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.
- We can trust God’s promises because He never changes.
C. Infinity (Limitlessness)
- Definition: God is unlimited in being, time, knowledge, and power.
- Psalm 147:5 – “Great is our Lord, and abundant in power; His understanding is beyond measure.”
- No problem is too great for God.
D. Eternity (God’s Timelessness)
- Definition: God has no beginning or end; He exists outside of time.
- Psalm 90:2 – “From everlasting to everlasting, you are God.”
- Revelation 1:8 – “I am the Alpha and the Omega.”
- We can trust God’s eternal plans.
E. Omnipresence (God is Everywhere)
- Definition: God is fully present everywhere at all times.
- Psalm 139:7-10 – “Where shall I go from your Spirit? If I ascend to heaven, you are there.”
- We are never alone—God is always near.
