SS Outline 5.11.25

Systematic Theology - "Scripture"

Introduction
  • Scripture is God’s special revelation, the inspired and authoritative Word of God.
  • Why This Matters:
  1. The Bible is the foundation of Christian doctrine and practice.
  2. It is the final authority in all matters of faith and life.

I. The Inspiration of Scripture
  • Verbal, plenary inspiration – every word of Scripture is inspired, not just ideas.
Implications:
  1. The Bible is inerrant (without error in the original manuscripts).
  2. The Bible is sufficient for salvation and godly living.

II. The Authority and Sufficiency of Scripture
  • The Bible is self-authenticating – it carries divine authority by its very nature.
  • Nothing needs to be added (rejecting extra-biblical revelation).

III. The Preservation and Clarity of Scripture
  • God has sovereignly preserved His Word throughout history.
  • The Bible is clear in essential matters of salvation.

Conclusion & Reflection
  • Inspiration – God-breathed, without error.
  • Authority – Final standard for faith and life.
  • Sufficiency – Complete for salvation and godliness.
  • Preservation & Clarity – Reliable and understandable.
